Biography

As the founder of a practice that would one day become the SHRC Law Firm, and having been Board Certified by the Florida Bar Association in business litigation since 1998, Mr. Siegel is a seasoned civil litigator with nearly 40 years’ experience practicing in state and federal courts throughout the state of Florida. He focuses his practice primarily on business, contract, estate and trust disputes, and has also successfully handled a number of significant personal injury, wrongful death and products liability cases.  As a result of his success as a civil litigator for the last 30 years Mr. Siegel has earned and maintained the highest possible AV (preeminent) Martindale Hubbell rating, a distinction reserved for the top 10% of attorneys nationwide.

Mr. Siegel has been Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Business Litigation since 1998, less than 1% of Florida attorneys earned that distinction and only two attorneys in Gainesville hold that distinction, the other one is Charlie Hughes, his partner.

Mr. Siegel is qualified by the Supreme Court Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution Center as Mediator in the Seventh & Eighth Judicial Circuit Courts of Florida.

Mr. Siegel has also been listed as a Super Lawyer and ranked as a Best Attorney by US News & World Report.

Mr. Siegel enjoys spending his free time outside of the office boating and saltwater fishing with his wife and three children.

Representative Matters

  • Mr. Siegel & Ms. Collins successfully represented an elderly widow in her dispute with a national developer regarding her family’s condominium. The dispute included lawsuits filed in multiple courts and as well as arguments before various governmental agencies and bodies. After more than a year and a half of litigation, the parties mutually resolved the dispute through a confidential settlement. See Links for articles below:
  • Mr. Siegel obtained a jury verdict of over $1,000,000.00 for the owner of an automobile dealership in a dispute regarding the sale and interim management of the dealership
  • Mr. Siegel & Mr. Hughes obtained and collected a judgment after trial of nearly $500,000.00 for a founding partner who the court found was improperly ejected from a partnership.
  • Mr. Siegel successfully represented a physician in a multi-day bench trial resulting in a judgment determining that a non-competition agreement with the physician’s former practice did not prevent the physician from continuing to practice medicine within the county of the practice.
  • Mr. Siegel & Mr. Ross obtained a multi-million dollar jury verdict for a family member after the elderly and ailing parents were influenced by another family member to make dramatic changes to their lifelong estate plans. Mr. Ross authored an article on will contests and undue influence which was published in the Florida Bar Journal in 2019.
  • All partners in the firm collectively represented local real estate agents in a commission dispute with their broker and obtained and collected a judgment in excess of $1.4 million dollars.
